Although slightly slower than the 650i, 640i smaller machine is equivalent to the overall weight is lighter and a bit more nimble handling and impressive fuel economy: EPA rates the car at 21 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
The package 650i twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter BMW V8 under the hood, which was upgraded to the latest model year with BMW's Valvetronic variable valve timing and lift system. This change helps the plant to crank out 445 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque (an upgrade from the 45 horses and 30 lb-ft). BMW refers to minimal torque converter slip and its rapid gear changes as transmission features' strong, but do not forget paddle now commonplace located behind the wheel well.
Available exclusively on the 650i is the "xDrive" BMW's all-wheel-drive system, which adds several hundred pounds agility-sapping weight but allows the coupe to the motor way through all but the worst weather.
