Honda has revealed images and details of its new Urban SUV Concept today, offering a first look at its upcoming Jazz-based crossover.
Drawing on the look of Honda's new CR-V, the Urban SUV Concept wears the usual show-car flair - but we can likely expect the merged headlights and grille to carry over to production, along with the swooping cabin and share character lines.
Sharing its Global Compact Series platform with the Jazz, Honda says the new crossover will feature a new interior design direction, while also offering the brand's familiar Magic Seats system.
The new crosover will take on the likes of Peugeot's new 2008, along with the Renault Captur, Ford's upcoming EcoSport, the Holden Trax and Nissan's Juke.
If reports in recent weeks prove accurate, it would also count a pint-sizedMazda CX-3 crossover among its rivals.
The new Honda will not be the carmaker's first compact SUV foray, with the seemingly ahead-of-its-time but slow selling HR-V model sold locally between 1999-2001.
Expect the new compact SUV to share its engine range with the next Jazz, including diesel engines for Europe and possibly Australia.
